The term "sciatica" is used to define a more or less intense pain that spreads along the sciatic nerve and its branches, or at the level of the back, legs and buttocks. The inflammation of this nerve forces thousands of people in bed, causing pain that can become excruciating. However, sciatica can be cured: here are 6 infallible exercises to practice every day.

  • A sedentary lifestyle has caused a considerable increase in the number of people suffering from sciatica. To prevent this type of disorder, one of the most recommended exercises is squats. Squatting in fact considerably strengthens the muscles of the buttocks and tendons of the knees, reducing the pressure on the back. Squatting is very simple and you don't need to be in the gym at all: the important thing is to keep your feet shoulder width apart and bend your knees, lowering your hips.
  • Another type of very recommended exercise is stretching the front muscles of the thighs: in fact, when seated, these muscles tend to contract during the day. Practicing the lunges, the muscles will be ironed and the benefit will be immediate.
  • The planks help stabilize the back: just put yourself in the plank position, flexing your abdominals and buttocks. This exercise must be repeated in series of three, lasting about 30 seconds each.
  • Sedentary work weakens the back considerably, so an excellent remedy for the treatment of sciatica is the use of an elastic band. All you have to do is pull it until your elbows are bent and your shoulder blades are tight: it is important to make sure you always have your knees slightly bent.
  • To allow your chest to relax, you need to spend a few minutes of your day stretching. Just place your forearms along a door and take a step forward, performing a relaxation. Your chest will immediately feel good and consequently there will be less chance of hitting this type of disorder.
  • A final tip for treating sciatica is to try a neck massage with a tennis ball. Just hold a ball pressed against a wall with the neck: bending the ball will move, acting on the most tense part of the neck and relieving fatigue.
