Nothing is as thrilling as the feeling of a new beginning coming
They say “new year, new life”, will it be true? The reality is that the arrival of a new year does not bring anything new with it, but it can bring the motivation to be the protagonist of the change. New beginnings are as exciting as they are frightening, they are joyful and terrifying. But it is time to leave behind bad habits and everything that does not feel good, turn the page and seek serenity in the little things.
The first thing to do is to set yourself a concrete and achievable goal and then study a path to get there. Nothing changes overnight, it’s not that simple unfortunately. Armed with determination and perseverance, clarify your thoughts and leave behind what doesn’t make you feel good. This can mean many things: changing cities, saying goodbye to harmful people, starting a new course. The important thing is to take the initial step, the rest will be easier.
Where do you start when you want to change? From what they don’t like anymore. Often the need for inner change is reflected externally. For some it is useful to start by tidying up the house, throwing away old clothes that are no longer pleasant to use, painting the walls or remodeling the rooms. After all, the house must be a place that resembles those who live there and must reflect their personality, mood and even transformations. Getting rid of objects and moods that belong to the old self will give a great sense of liberation.
Not only that, often the desire to change one’s life leads to wanting to transform one’s appearance. So on to a new haircut, new color, clothes more like you you’re trying to get to. They may seem superfluous gestures but in reality they help a lot. Visualizing the person you would like to become draws you closer, draws a clearer path to follow. Starting to look like her on an aesthetic level is the first step, perhaps the simplest and most trivial one, but every new beginning needs a starting point.
To start a new path you need a lot of energy and tenacity. Treating your body well and taking care of it is essential to ensure the strength you will need to start your new life. If until now you have postponed projects, interests, hobbies and passions, now is the time to pick them up and enjoy their beauty. The start of a new year is the best time to keep all those promises you’ve made to yourself but haven’t kept: quitting smoking, cutting back on alcohol, playing sports, meeting new people.
The most important thing is to be kind to yourself, not to demand too much, to listen to your needs and your needs. To get out of the cocoon and become a new and better version of you, you need to silence all external voices that block you and start acting like “the person I want to be”. Slowly you will become.
Alejandro Jodorowsky used to say “The first step will not take you where you want to go, but it takes you away from where you are” this truth is the mantra of new beginnings. The changes are slow, painful and require dedication and patience but each step is a small achievement.
