Due to potential health risks, a recall campaign is currently underway for pre-baked rolls that were sold at Edeka, Netto and Marktkauf. We strongly advise against eating the rolls as they could contain foreign bodies.
The Federal Office of Consumer Protection and Food Safety (BVL) has informed about a recall by Panem Backstube GmbH for pre-baked rolls that were sold at Edeka, Netto and Marktkauf. The rolls could contain foreign bodies, warns the BVL.
Which rolls are affected?
The following products are affected by the recall:
- “GOOD&CHEAP Mixed Rolls” 540g
- “Kornmühle Mixed Rolls” 540g
each with a best-before date up to and including 30 May 2024.
Risks from foreign bodies
According to the manufacturer, “it cannot be ruled out that individual products may contain foreign bodies made of wood,” so consumption is not recommended for reasons of preventive consumer protection.
Swallowing foreign bodies poses various health risks, which can range from injuries to the mouth and throat to internal injuries and resulting complaints.
Goods withdrawn from sale
The manufacturer and the respective retail companies say they reacted immediately and immediately removed the goods from sale. However, anyone who has already purchased the rolls should return them to the store.
The purchase price will be refunded even without presenting the receipt, according to the manufacturer's statement. Other products and best-before dates after May 30, 2024 are not affected and customer service is available by email or telephone if you have any questions. (fp)
