Nicolodi was an atypical figure in the panorama of Italian cinema. Actress and at the same time author of subjects and scripts, together with her partner of the time, Dario Argento, revolutionized Italian thriller cinema, considered at the time of "Serie B".

Born in 1950, Daria Nicolodi was born in Florence, but at the end of the sixties she moved to Rome. In the early seventies, a relationship with the sculptor Mario Ceroli, from whom his eldest daughter, Anna, was born on 9 June 1972, who disappeared in a car accident on 29 September 1994.

He acted under the guidance of Elio Petri in the film Property is no longer a theft and by Carmelo Bene in Salomè. Also in the early seventies he participated in some television productions, such as I Nicotera, Without leaving a trace with Rossano Brazzi and Portrait of a veiled woman with Nino Castelnuovo.

The turning point, both in her private and working life, was her romantic relationship and professional partnership with Dario Argento, whom the actress met in 1974 during the casting for the film Deep Red. From their relationship, in 1975, the second daughter Asia was born, who made her grandmother of Anna Lou Castoldi, born from the relationship with Morgan in 2001 and Nicola Giovanni, who arrived in 2008 and is the result of history with the director Michele Civetta.

Nicolodi participated, as an actress or screenwriter, in all the films directed by Dario Argento from 1975 to 1987: Profondo rosso where she played the journalist Gianna Bezzi, a female character with a determined character, quite unusual for the time, and again Suspiria, Inferno, Darkness, Phenomena, Opera.

Nicolodi's career continued with other interesting experiences. In 1978 he was the protagonist, alongside Gigi Proietti, of the musical show by Luigi Magni La commedia di Gaetanaccio. In 1982 he played Margherita Barezzi, the composer's first wife, in the television series Verdi.

After her relationship with Argento in 1985, she occasionally participated in some thriller and horror films (Le foto di Gioia, Paganini Horror, La sect), taking advantage of her dark lady aura that characterized her. He also starred in some auteur films, such as Maccheroni by Ettore Scola, alongside Marcello Mastroianni and Jack Lemmon, The end is known by Cristina Comencini, The word love exists by Mimmo Calopreste, where she was the mother of Valeria Bruni Tedeschi.

After the loss of her eldest daughter Anna in 1994, her appearances became more and more sporadic.

In 2007 she returned to the cinema, working with her former partner Argento and daughter Asia on the new film by the Roman director, The Third Mother, a sequel to Suspiria and Inferno. In recent years he had decided to devote himself to his family and his grandchildren.

In a recent interview with Io Donna she had declared: “Acting is a disease that is cured by acting. And I am healed. That's okay. Today I spend my days reading and writing and I am a grandmother with a lot of passion. Every actor must necessarily remain a little child and today I transfer all my creativity into my relationship with my beloved grandchildren ".
