The director did not like the non-nomination of "The most beautiful years" as Best Film and has entrusted his disappointment to Twitter
Carlo Conti: 60 years of success, friendship and love
Gabriele Muccino furious with the jury of the David di Donatello, guilty – according to him – of having "snubbed" his film The most beautiful years. The film directed by the director of The Last Kiss in fact received only two nominations and neither of them attributable to the director: the one for the best song, for which the song The most beautiful years by Claudio Baglioni is in the running, and the one for best actress protagonist for the interpretation of Micaela Ramazzotti.
The ceremony for the delivery of the sixty-sixth edition of the David di Donatello was supposed to take place on 7 April, but was postponed to 11 May. At the helm of the evening, which will be broadcast on Rai Uno, there will once again be Carlo Conti, who will try to shed light on one of the sectors most affected by the crisis related to the pandemic, but which despite the difficulties has not stopped and has tried to go ahead, spreading their work with alternative methods.
Muccino, however, believes that the right assessments have not been made and believes that his work has been deliberately ignored by critics, even if it deserved more. So he entrusted his regret to a series of posts on Twitter: "Let's face it, dear David Award Jurors: this umpteenth time (you have been snubbing my work since 2003), you have done it hard. It is not me who is losing, but your credibility, which has been lost for some time. I will cheer on Micaela Ramazzotti and Claudio Baglioni ", wrote the director, who then went on against the most popular film, Favolacce by Fabio and Damiano D’Innocenzo, which won 13 nominations.
“I've been trying to watch Favolacce this morning. I haven't been able to finish it yet. Will I be unintelligent or cinephile to understand its greatness? (Yet they are one of those who when they see Dogman (by Matteo Garrone, ed), call the director to shower him with compliments) ”, he writes. An unhappy comment, as some users who do not consider it correct point out the work of others.
And here too Gabriele Muccino is not there and replies: “For the record: Pasolini hated Calvino, Moretti Monicelli, the Viscontians hated each other with the Fellini and sometimes even came to blows. If I can say it all and all, all this politically correct is the tomb of art and I find it unbearable. When C. Bene and V. Gassman confronted each other with shots of poison and foil, they gave the antithetical art they brought to the stage an immense stature. If I don't like a movie why shouldn't I say it ?! To avoid being told that it is envy? !! I love to admire beautiful things! Don't get me down! ”.
The artistic director of the David di Donatello Piera Detassis immediately responded to the accusations, who explained through a note to Ansa: "I'm sorry and I understand the disappointment, but all selected film professionals are voting for the David di Donatello. Muccino shouldn't complain because he actually has two nominations for The Best Years: the one for Micaela Ramazzotti and the one for Baglioni's song ".
