Therefore we want to help you by giving you some valuable tips on how to clean it quickly and efficiently. An accurate monthly cleaning it is sufficient for most brushes and combs. If you have long hair or use a lot of beauty products, you may need to clean your tools every two weeks. In any case, we suggest that you regularly remove any hair that gets tangled around the bristles. Here are the tools you need to clean the brush:

  • Tweezers
  • Toothbrush
  • Gentle shampoo with no added conditioners
  • Alcohol
  • Disinfectant spray
  • Sodium bicarbonate
  • Sink or basin
  • Towel

The cleaning steps depend on the type of brush to be cleaned. Brushes with plastic bristles and handles are the easiest to clean, while those with natural bristles or wooden handles require more attention.

Brushes with synthetic bristles and handles

These steps work well with all types of synthetic bristles and handles, including cushioned brushes.

  • Remove the hair. Start removing as much hair from the bristles as possible using the end of a tail comb, your fingers, or tweezers.
  • Wash the brush. Fill the sink or large basin with hot water. Add a generous splash of shampoo and swirl the brush into the mixture to create some lather.
  • Leave to soak. You can leave the brush in the water for 10 minutes or start cleaning it right away. Use a clean toothbrush to scrub between the bristles and around the handle.
  • Rub with baking soda. If there is an excessive build-up of hair products, that’s better dip the wet toothbrush in a little dry baking soda and keep scrubbing.
  • Rinse thoroughly. Rinse your toothbrush well with warm water and remove excess water. Place the brush on a towel with the bristles facing down to dry.
  • Sanitize the brush. Mix equal parts alcohol and water. Dip the brush into the solution and set it to air dry on a towel with the bristles facing down.
