Kate Middleton recycles the 2014 coat which costs 2 thousand euros. But William rejects it: “Too bright”
Kate Middleton, from the cyclamen suit to the black jumpsuit
Kate Middleton is back in public, recycles Erdem’s bright green coat that dates back to 2014 and goes against her husband William who then called his wife’s coat “too bright”.
Kate Middleton in Erdem’s coat
Kate Middleton joined William at Kew Gardens for an Earthshot Prize event. After the golden dress with which she enchanted the world, the low cost dress and the new cyclamen suit, the Duchess of Cambridge decided to give new life to one of her garments in the wardrobe. In particular, Lady Middleton has chosen to wear a coat with a rounded collar and zip closure, by Erdem, which costs 1,765 pounds (2,085 euros approximately).

This is a mid-season overcoat with which Kate debuted 7 years ago, in 2014 during the New Zealand tour, to then wear it again in 2016. The outerwear is decidedly bon ton and the Duchess paired it with a t- short-sleeved shirt in the same bright green and a pair of dark blue palazzo pants, long to the feet, with fabric belt.
The hair is left loose on the shoulders, evidently treated with the detangling brush, her real beauty secret and the jewels are discreet: geometric earrings, watch and the engagement ring from which she never separates.
Kate Middleton, William’s critic
The Duchess is perfect for the event during which she met a group of children and entertained them to do odd jobs. But William just doesn’t approve of his wife’s green coat. This was revealed by Bev Hayes, a benefactor Kate met in New Zealand, who declared: “I complimented her on her green coat. She said she liked her, but that Prince William thought she was a little bright. “
A few years later, in 2018, William found fault with another green jacket from his wife. The Dukes had attended a Christmas event and he jokingly turned to his wife stating that she was camouflaged with the Christmas tree in the official photo.
Evidently the Prince does not like greenery or perhaps he thinks it does not suit his wife particularly well. The fact is that Kate, as a true observer, has done nothing but take inspiration from the wardrobe of Queen Elizabeth who does not disdain wearing bright green, if not phosphorescent suits.
