The Music Bonus was reconfirmed again this year. But what exactly is it about? Who is it for? How to request it? Here are all the answers to this question.

In short, this is born as a contribution reserved for the youngest who want to approach the world of music by the age of 18.

It’s a matter of a tax deduction to be used directly in the tax return.

Already last year it was introduced to facilitate low-income families and allow them to guarantee their minor children a proper musical education.

It was confirmed in 2022 as well. Here’s everything you need to know about the Music Bonus.

Music Bonus: everything you need to know

The first thing to say is that it is intended for children between the ages of 5 and 18 – as we have anticipated – but not for everyone.

The Music Bonus, in fact, it can be provided to those enrolled to one of the following institutes:

  • conservatives;
  • music schools recognized by the Public Administration;
  • institutions of high artistic, musical and dance training (AFAM);
  • bands;
  • choirs.

Obviously, there are also restrictions with regard to household income, because only those can access this facility whose ISEE is less than 36,000 euros.

In any case, this is not the only benefit reserved for low-income families: here are 5 others.

There is also a difference this year compared to the previous one: to get the Music Bonus it is no longer necessary to submit an application.

In recent years, in fact, the subsidy was reserved for families with an ISEE of less than 30 thousand euros and provided for a contribution of 200 euros, to be requested expressly, however.

This year instead, this one comes paid in the form of a tax deduction to be applied to taxes that are paid through the Tax Return.

How much is? To the 19% of the costs incurred and in any case has a maximum ceiling, that is 1000 euros.

It must also be said that this is up to families whose children are fiscally dependent and not formally.

The Music Bonus however, it can also be used for several members of the same family and the maximum ceiling will be considered for each of them.

Obviously, however, if the expenditure concerns more than one child, the expenditure incurred for each of them must be declared separately in the appropriate section of the tax return.

We must then specify that the Music Bonus must be traceable, i.e. payments must have been made through one of the following methods:

  • postal or bank payment;
  • debit cards;
  • credit cards;
  • prepaid cards;
  • bank and cashier’s checks.
