Ozone therapy is a therapeutic remedy based on the use of a particular combination of oxygen and ozone that can increase the oxygenation of the body.

Introducing this beneficial mixture into the organism results in a greater quantity of available oxygen as an immediate result. For this reason it has a powerful antioxidant effect, useful in the treatment of various diseases. In particular, it proved to be suitable for the treatment of herniated discs.

Ozone is a substance naturally produced by white blood cells with the aim of combating and neutralizing the foreign bodies that come into circulation. For this reason, strong anti-inflammatory properties are attributed to it.

Ozone therapy requires that the introduction of ozone into the body takes place in different ways. It can in fact be administered intravenously, by subcutaneous injection, by autohemotransfusion, by intestinal insufflation or by applying ozonated water, ozone creams and ozonated oil. It is not inhaled as it is toxic to the respiratory tract.

In addition to the anti-inflammatory action, ozone therapy can have fungicidal, analgesic, antibacterial, antiviral properties, stimulate the body's production of oxygen and better use, promotes the release of determinant growth factors in the osteoarticular regeneration process.

Until now, the areas of application of ozone therapy have been the treatment of herniated discs, articular rheumatism, multiple sclerosis, arthritis, cardiac pathologies, Alzheimer's, interstitial cystitis, chronic hepatitis, herpes, tooth infections, diabetes, macular degeneration, cancer, AIDS and Lyme disease. It must be said, however, that the use of ozonotherapy in medicine is currently controversial because there is still no scientific evidence about its real effectiveness.
