What to eat during pregnancy to strengthen the immune system

"Nutrition is a very valuable ally to better cope with pregnancy in this period and further strengthen the immune system", adds Daniela Galliano. "Vitamins and minerals must never be missing from the table because they are essential for increasing the body's natural defenses and counteracting free radicals.

“So, green light for certain types of fruit and vegetables. And if it is still too early for summer fruit, in this period you can choose from an infinite variety of vegetables ", recommends the expert. Vegetables which, among other things, are rich in folate this season, substances that are particularly useful for pregnant women. In fact, consolidated scientific evidence shows that folic acid deficiency represents one of the main risk factors for the development of congenital malformations and, in particular, neural tube defects, such as failure to develop the brain (anencephaly) or bone marrow extroflexion. spinal (spina bifida). Yes to green leafy vegetables (artichokes, broccoli, asparagus, spinach, lettuce), legumes (beans, chickpeas) and dried fruit.
