There is currently a recall for several sausages. Pathogens have been detected in the products. It is not recommended to consume the product because consumption could lead to, among other things, diarrhea and nausea.
The Federal Office for Consumer Protection and Food Safety (BVL) reports on its portal “www.lebensmittelwarning.de” about a recall by the company Könecke Sp. z oo for several sausages.
Toxin-producing Escherichia coli detected
The company reports in various customer information about the recall for the following products:
- Yayla Sucuk 250g in pieces, batch 10855916, best before date (BBD) March 9th, 2024
- Yayla Sucuk 200g in slices, batch 10865984, best before date 02/23/2024 and 03/01/2024
- Yayla Sucuk 80g in Scheiben, Charge 10865984, MHD 09.02.2024
As part of a routine investigation, toxin-producing Escherichia coli (STEC) was detected in the products. It cannot therefore be ruled out that other packages are also contaminated with these bacteria. Therefore the sausages should not be consumed.
Consumers can return the goods in question without a receipt for a refund of the purchase price.
This incident represents the first in our company’s history and we deeply regret any inconvenience caused, writes the manufacturer, who points out that it will make every effort to identify the causes of this incident in order to take appropriate measures and ensure that such incidents will not be repeated in the future.
If necessary, seek medical attention
An infection with STEC usually manifests itself within a week with diarrhea and nausea. People who have eaten this food and develop the symptoms described should seek medical attention and report a possible STEC infection. However, it does not make sense to seek preventive medical treatment without symptoms. (ad)
