The Meierei-Genossenschaft Sarzbüttel eG has launched a recall for various cheese products because it cannot be ruled out that there are pathogens in the products. Microbiologically contaminated foods should not be consumed.
The Federal Office for Consumer Protection and Food Safety (BVL) reports on its portal “www.lebensmittelwarning.de” about a current recall by the company Meierei-Genossenschaft Sarzbüttel eG for several cheese products.
Microbiological contamination cannot be ruled out
The following cheese products from the Schleswig-Holstein company Meierei-Genossenschaft Sarzbüttel eG are affected by the recall:
- Gourmet cheese 60% fat i. Tr; 362-2; Best before date (BBD): July 25th, 2024 & August 1st, 2024

Unfortunately, microbiological contamination (Listeria monocytogenes) cannot be ruled out, the company writes in a press release. Customers who have purchased one of the affected products with the above-mentioned batch numbers can return it to their shopping locations.
Do not consume
Listeria monocytogenes (Listeria) are bacteria that can cause the infectious disease listeriosis.
This disease manifests itself within a few days to a few weeks after infection with symptoms such as vomiting and diarrhea as well as general flu-like symptoms such as fever, body aches and muscle pain.
People who develop severe or persistent symptoms and have eaten a potentially contaminated food should seek medical attention and report a possible listeria infection.
As a general rule, it is not recommended to consume foods that may be contaminated with these pathogens. (ad)
