A cake is currently being recalled in various supermarkets and bakeries because it cannot be ruled out that it contains broken glass. Food that could contain foreign bodies should generally no longer be consumed because health problems cannot be ruled out if consumed.
The Federal Office of Consumer Protection and Food Safety (BVL) reports on its portal “www.lebensmittelwarning.de” about a public regional product recall for the product “Schäfer’s Donauwelle” from the company Schäfer’s Produktionsgesellschaft mbH from Minden (North Rhine-Westphalia).
Glass foreign bodies in Danube wave
According to the information, Schäfer’s Produktionsgesellschaft mbH is recalling the “Donauwelle” product.
This only affects goods that were delivered on January 18, 2024 and as “loose goods” at the service counters at EDEKA, EDEKA Center, MARKTKAUF and in the Schäfer’s specialty bakery stores in parts of the EDEKA Minden-Hannover sales area (specifically in Lower Saxony, Bremen, East Westphalia -Lippe and Saxony-Anhalt).
It cannot be ruled out that individual pieces of the item in question could contain glass foreign bodies, according to a press release.
Schäfer’s Produktionsgesellschaft mbH and the affected trading companies immediately withdrew the relevant goods from sale. Other items and the “Donauwelle” product that were purchased on other days are not affected by the recall.
Customers who purchased the corresponding product on January 18, 2024 can return it to their shopping locations for a refund of the purchase price, even without presenting the receipt.
Do not consume
Food that could contain foreign bodies such as broken glass should generally not be consumed. Such parts can lead to various injuries and complaints, for example injuries to the mouth and throat. Internal injuries cannot be ruled out either. (ad)
