Roberto Cavalli’s SS 2022 collection reinterprets the maison’s historical archive and adds new expressions to the animalier.
The first Roberto Cavalli collection designed by Fausto Puglisi parades at Palazzo Clerici.
It starts from the archive with the wonderful prints of the 70s of the Cavalli Maison, to continue to seek inspiration in nature and enrich with new expressions the fabrics that over time have become the hallmark of the Cavalli style.
The wild tiger motif that amazed so much twenty years ago is reinterpreted in the Spring / Summer 2022 collection designed by Fausto Puglisi, artistic director of the Florentine house since last year.
A jungle in which the tiger head almost always appears, from the top to the very long skirt, from the mini dress to the tight and super sexy jumpsuit. The lines are soft but close to the body, the evening dresses have dizzying slits, the cloak shirts are aggressive and sensual at the same time.
Black dresses, long or short, are rich in asymmetrical cuts, often gathered in small metallic tiger heads. The graceful skirts with rigid overlapping flounces are very short and worn over fitted tops. The dusters are large and fluid, all with contrasting inner fabric.
The colors of the jungle, the shaded or camouflaged tiger head, the zebra stripes, the leopard spots, the macro-flowers in white-pink, are added milky-mint green or pixelated iris.
Everything is contemporary and there are many references to the classic elegance of the sheath dress or dressing gown coat.
The Maison’s animalier essence returns overbearing and strong in the Puglisi collection, from which the cheerful face of Roberto Cavalli appears, reminding us, as in the 2000s, “I’m the party”.
The new symbol of the Cavalli style is the protagonist: the metal claw that becomes the heel of evening shoes or satin over-the-knee boots, detail of large tote bags or mini buckets, light point on the shirt.
A fashion show that is also the beginning of a new era for the fashion house which, in conjunction with the Milan Fashion Week, also presented the relaunch strategy, which passes through the expansion of the brand’s activities which include the latest architecture and interior design project, the Cavalli Tower in Dubai.
A real ultra-luxury skyscraper full of meanings, where the new tower symbolizes Cavalli’s return in style to fashion week while the interiors, rigorously designed by the Maison, underline that the universe of the brand extends far beyond clothes and the catwalks, embraces the daily life of each of us.
