Sore gums: aloe vera and other natural remedies

Gingivitis is a very common disease that presents with swelling, inflammation redness and in more severe cases with bleeding gums very often accompanied by halitosis

There are many factors that can lead to inflammation of the gums such as stress, genetic predisposition or nutritional deficiencies. Here are the natural remedies to be applied to reduce gingivitis, while in extreme cases, then contact your trusted dentist. One of the most recommended natural remedies is aloe vera, in fact, this plant has been recognized as having healing and anti-inflammatory properties. Useful for inflamed and bleeding gums as it has antibacterial properties, reduces infections, treats the oral mucosa and eliminates halitosis. You can apply aloe vera gel on inflamed gums and massage them, leaving them to act for at least 30 minutes, after which they are rinsed. Also the infusion of mallow is an excellent remedy for bleeding gums, as it has soothing, calming and emollient properties. Bring a sachet of mallow or two tablespoons of dried mallow and then chop it and place it in a cup containing hot water. Strain and let it cool, after which you can use it to rinse the oral cavity.

You can also opt for coconut oil, which has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties that help reduce this problem. It is advisable to mix it with baking soda so as to help neutralize the presence of acidity within the oral cavity. Add two small tablespoons of coconut oil to two tablespoons of baking soda and mix them, they will replace the toothpaste and you will have to use it at least twice a week. Coconut oil is easily purchased in stores that sell natural products or directly in herbal medicine. A very simple remedy to lighten gum inflammation is the use of the chamomile infusion which has antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties. Carefully prepared your infusion with a sachet or with some flower heads. Let everything cool and use it to rinse two or three times a day until you feel the visible improvements.

Salt is rich in minerals that are able to reduce inflammation, slow pain and prevent inflammation. Take a cup and pour in some warm water, add a pinch of salt and mix everything until it has completely melted, at this point use the mixture several times a day to rinse your mouth. And finally, a very effective remedy is the use of lemon juice with which to rinse your mouth several times a day, although it is advisable to dilute it with water.
