The 2018 ranking of the 20 most admired women in the world

They are strong, courageous and revolutionary: here is the ranking of the 20 most admired women in the world

Beautiful, strong and courageous: these are the characteristics of the 20 most admired women in the world.

The 2018 ranking was compiled by YouGov, an English platform that interviewed over 37 thousand people scattered in 35 countries. The same question was asked of everyone: "Thinking about living people in the world today, who do you most admire?" Based on the answers, a list of characters has been drawn up who have the ability to inspire and influence the community.

A Hollywood star, Angelina Jolie, won the top spot, surprisingly. Emblem of a strong and charismatic woman, mother of six children, but also celebrities, she has been fighting for years for children and refugees in Syria and Cambodia and has managed to overcome the difficult divorce from Brad Pitt. In second place, Michelle Obama, wife of the former president Barack, attorney and first African-American woman to play the role of First Lady, appears.

Bronze medal for Oprah Winfrey, charismatic and enterprising television presenter, considered among the most powerful women in the world, but also engaged in numerous charitable works. After leaving the podium, we find Elizabeth II who comes fourth on the list of the most admired women in the world. Thanks to its iron character and its willpower, which allowed it to keep the British monarchy alive, preventing it from crumbling under scandals and modernity.

Fifth Hillary Clinton, the wife of former President Bill, has arrived, determined to enter the White House and be able to overcome the media (and personal) storm of the Lewisky case. In the sixth position the name of the very young Emma Watson appears, famous thanks to the saga of Harry Potter and has become an activist for women's rights, able to give voice even to those who do not have it with great courage and determination.

A well-deserved seventh place for Malala Yousafzai, a Pakistani activist and winner of the Nobel Peace Prize, known thanks to her commitment to the right to education that led her to unleash the anger and retaliation of the Taliban. Surprisingly in eighth position we find Angela Merkel, an iron chancellor of Germany, considered the most powerful woman in the world by Forbes.

The ninth and tenth position go to two queens of pop, albeit different and with a big age difference. The first is Taylor Swift, an ambitious and talented American singer, who has become an entrepreneur herself, with assets of 280 million dollars. The other is Madonna, a style icon that marked an era and that at 60 is still on the crest of a wave.

The big news is represented by the entry in the ranking of Indian and Chinese actresses, such as Aishwarya Rai, Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone, Bollywood queens, and Fan Binbing, Liu Yifei, Yang Mi and Zhao Wei. Which are placed at the bottom of the list alongside the Israeli Gal Gadot and the British policy Theresa May.
