The body reset diet: three steps to lose weight

Diet regime created by a famous personal trainer, it is very useful for weight loss and gives ample space to the fibers

The body reset diet is a diet that has gained considerable popularity in recent years. Designed by Harley Pasternak, trainer of numerous celebrities with a background in the food sciences, it lasts 15 days and is divided into three phases of 5 each.

The guidelines provide for eating five meals a day. During the first phase, it is necessary to replace the three main meals, namely breakfast, lunch and dinner, with smoothies. Those who follow the body reset diet, which according to its supporters represents an effective solution to awaken the metabolism, during the first days must consume two snacks a day.

What are the peculiarities of the second phase? The next tranche involves consuming a solid main meal. The remaining two, on the other hand, must be based on smoothies. Also in this situation, the consumption of two snacks a day is indicated. As for the third phase, we remind you that the body reset diet plan recommends the consumption of a smoothie as a substitute for one of the main meals. The other two must be managed taking into account a low calorie intake. As in the previous phases, also in this one you need to consume two snacks a day.

When talking about the body reset diet, it is also crucial to focus on physical activity. Among the indications in this regard, it is possible to mention the fact of walking every day (at least 10,000 steps), as well as the importance of giving space to resistance training starting from the second phase.

What are the concrete benefits of this food scheme? Among the main ones it is possible to mention the weight loss, due to the fact that you burn more calories than you eat. Just to give some numbers on this, we remind you that the average energy intake of this diet is between 1,200 and 1,400 daily calories.

Science has repeatedly focused on the effects of calorie deficit on weight loss. Noteworthy in this regard is a study conducted in 2012 by a team from the Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm. Experts focused on the effects of a 1,200 / 1,500 calorie per day diet consisting of two meals and two replacement shakes. At a one-year follow-up, it was possible to notice an average weight drop of just under 7 kg.

We could go on and on about the benefits of the body reset diet! Among the aspects to consider are the emphasis on healthy foods such as fruit, vegetables, whole grains. The food pattern in question is particularly rich in fiber. Diets that give ample space to these nutrients are linked, as demonstrated by several studies including a 2015 research work conducted by a team from the University of Florida, at a reduced risk of dealing with diseases such as type 2 diabetes.

Returning for a moment to the composition of the menu, it is natural to ask what should be used for the preparation of smoothies. It starts with a liquid base with water, flavored water, vegetable milk or skim milk. The protein portion is also fundamental, which can be satisfied by using yogurt, tofu or protein powder.

As for lipids and fibers, reference can be made respectively to avocado and oil seeds and, as regards the last mentioned nutrients, to fruits such as oranges and apples, but also to green leafy vegetables. We conclude by recalling that, due to the high calorie deficit, before starting this diet it is advisable to seek advice from your doctor.
