The first version of the Copernicus appeared in 1965 at the Raketa watch factory. The designers of that first version were based on the following idea: the minute hand symbolizes the Earth, and the hour hand symbolizes Jupiter. The Earth revolves around the Sun in one year, and Jupiter in 12 years, the same ratio of 1:12 between the minute and hour hands.
In 2024, the brand decided to relaunch the watch, updating it inside and out. The dial, on which the planet hands rotate around the celestial body, is made of aventurine, symbolizing the starry sky. The sun is made of agate. The whole composition is highlighted by a bracelet made using the Milanese weaving technique. The self-winding movement is visible through the transparent caseback.
