The lives of royal families are always in the spotlight, but not all the background on the everyday life of princes and monarchs is known. And this is why their stories are passionate and make you dream so much. Netflix is well aware that with The Crown, the original production focused on the life of Queen Elizabeth II and the Windsors, they conquered viewers all over the world.
Now, in the wake of this success, a new TV series arrives, this time based on the Swedish royalty, in particular on King Carl Gustaf, from his childhood to his accession to the throne in 1973 at the age of 27 until today.
This was announced by the American magazine Variety, specializing in cinema and television, which reported how production is already underway at the hands of the Swedish television channel TV4 and the streaming service C More. “Personally, I've never been a fan of the monarchy – said producer Josefine Tengblad, director of the fiction section of TV4 and C More – but I remember reading the six or seven-page treatment while on a flight. As I read those pages, I started crying because it was so strong ”.
An exciting tale, therefore, which will try to bring to light some lesser-known implications: "It's a bit like The King's Speech in the way it portrays someone being prepared to become a person they are not, and confronts people trying to change it, ”he added referring to the film that told the story of King George VI, father of Elizabeth II, and his stammering.
“Other kings and queens are said to have had an impact on world events. The story of our King (Carl Gustaf, ed) is something different. Not quite evident internationally but at least as dramatic and fascinating. And for many of us, completely unknown, ”revealed one of the screenwriters of the television series.
But what will those directly involved think? The Swedish Royal Family expressed their opinion on this in a note sent to the Dagens Nyheter newspaper which reads: “From what we have learned, it is scheduled as a docu-series. When it comes to documentaries it is important that they are as close to reality as possible and that the facts are represented correctly. As for the more fictional part, it is obviously based on artistic freedoms over which we have no control ”.
King Carl Gustaf, as already mentioned, ascended the throne in 1973 at the age of 27 and is the father of three children, Princess Victoria, Prince Carl Philip and Princess Madeleine, who in turn had children.
Just recently the second son Carl Philip announced together with his wife Princess Sofia that they are expecting their third child.
