Washing Your Hairbrush – Is It Necessary?

How often should you wash your hairbrush? For some people, this question may sound at least surprising. Should you clean your hairbrush at all? It turns out that yes, and that otherwise we expose ourselves and our hair to health problems.

Why you need to comb your hair

Daily hair combing is of course very important, not only for styling the hair, but also for the condition of the hair. By combing it, we stimulate blood circulation in the scalp, oxygenate the hair follicles, remove dead hair (those that we take off the brush) and dirt. Parents of school-age children certainly know how important regular combing is when it comes to lice prevention.

Hairbrush disinfection – why, how, when

We usually remember that body sponges should be replaced regularly. We also clean makeup brushes, foundation sponges and face washers. But we put the brushes away after use without washing them.

Meanwhile, impurities accumulate in them, both natural ones, such as dead skin cells, excess sebum, and impurities from hair styling products.

By not washing your brush, you are giving your hair and scalp a dose of dirt, bacteria, dead skin, and sweat every time. The result?

According to experts, regular use of an unwashed brush can lead to the development of dandruff, irritation, skin lesions, inflammation and, consequently, to the deterioration of the hair condition.
