Who is Regé-Jean Page, the Duke of Hastings of Bridgerton

Chi è Regé-Jean Page, il duca di Hastings di Bridgerton

Originally from Zimbabwe, Regé-Jean is Hollywood's rising star and promises to do great things

The romantic Bridgerton is one of the most talked about TV series of the moment: produced by Shonda Rhimes and based on the best-selling novels by Julia Quinn, the Netflix TV series (which is thrilling many) tells the story of London high society in the age of the Regency.

Among the most beloved protagonists of the first season of Bridgerton is the Duke of Hasting, played by Regé-Jean Page, a thirty-year-old actor from Zimbabwe who has certainly not gone unnoticed in the eyes of viewers. Born in 1990, Regé-Jean moved to England when he was only 14, where he began studying acting at the Drama Center in London.

His first professional engagement dates back to 2004, when he appeared in the short film Troublemaker, only to appear sporadically in some television series. The debut in the United States took place in 2016, when he played Chicken George in the series Roots, and it is this experience – according to the actor himself, interviewed by In Style – that transformed a simple passion into a real job.

Not much is known about his private life, which the actor keeps away from the limelight. We only know about him that he has a large family divided between Africa, Australia, Sweden and Florida.

Between 2018 and 2019 Regé-Jean also played the role of Leonard Knox in the TV series For the People, before arriving in Bridgerton, in which the actor plays the role of the protagonist Simon Basset. His Instagram profile has 685 thousand followers and his bio seems to express a real life motto: "Do what I can with what I got", or "I do what I can with what I have".

Regé-Jean Page also appears in the new film available on Amazon Prime Video and produced by Amazon Original itself: it is Sylvie's love, a romantic comedy set in the 1950s released in 2020. This role, together with the one played in Bridgerton, perfectly explains how the actor prefers historical roles over more current characters, as he himself told in the interview.

Regé-Jean has already been called a rising Hollywood star and promises to do great things in the film industry. In addition, as the Duke of Hasting, he literally bewitched the public. His beginning is therefore one of the best: from the same London school where he graduated in acting, other great actors such as Tom Hardy and Michael Fassbender have also passed before him.
