The doctor's consultation will increase to 30 euros at the end of the year

At the end of the year, you will pay a little more for your medical consultation. The price, which is currently 26.50 euros, will increase to 30 euros in December.

Big news in the healthcare landscape. The price of the consultation with the general practitioner, which is currently 26.50 euros, will increase to 30 euros in December, according to agreements made by Health Insurance and the unions of private doctors.

Revalue the various consultations

This revaluation of the consultation, initiated by Health Insurance in February, was finalized this Friday, May 17, in agreement with the unions of private doctors. A text intended to regulate the prices and conditions of practice of private doctors for the next five years.

According to 20 minutes, this draft agreement, which also provides for revaluations of the various consultations of specialists and collective commitments for access to care, “must now be ratified by a sufficiently representative group of unions to enter into force“.

In other words: the unions have fifteen days to consult their base and decide whether to sign or not.

“I am convinced that this convention can be a powerful lever to improve the functioning of our health system and strengthen the attractiveness of private medicine”, said Thomas Fatôme, Director General of Health Insurance. “This is an important issue for access to care which justifies the investment we are making.”he added, estimating the new measures provided for in this text at 1.6 billion euros over five years.

For his part, Doctor Franck Devulder, president of the CSMF union of specialists and general practitioners, was in favor of ratification by his organization.

“Does this agreement, which is a compromise, bring a plus? I think so”, he indicated. “And does it bring additional constraints? for doctors ?,”I think not”he summarized, according to information collected by our colleagues at Huffingtonpost.

One last “missing” element

Faced with this draft agreement, Doctor Jean-Christophe Nogrette – one of the leaders of the powerful MG Europe union – regrets the presence of a “element” on the table.

This last missing proposal concerns the one-off advice from specialist consultant (APC), a consultation of the specialist requested by the general practitioner for opinion, which should be increased to 60 euros.

General practitioners wish that this cannot be used by specialists to refer patients to each other, bypassing the attending physician.

Finally, the agreement must also revalue the “treating doctor package” and “help for hiring medical assistants”.

1.6 billion euros in additional spending for health insurance

If the draft agreement is expected to be finalized this weekend; the total cost of the operation – certainly necessary – is nevertheless substantial.

The various revaluations contained in the project ultimately represent “1.6 billion euros in additional spending for health insurance“, et “1.9 billion euros in additional spending including supplementary health spending“, affirms, in conclusion, the general director of Cnam, Thomas Fatôme.
