The company Bauer Regionale Fleischspezialitäten GmbH has started a recall for a sausage. The reason for this measure: bacteria that are harmful to health have been detected in the product.
The Federal Office for Consumer Protection and Food Safety (BVL) reports on its portal “www.lebensmittelwarning.de” that the company Bauer Regionale Fleischspezialitäten GmbH from Nordhausen, Thuringia, has launched a recall for the item “Deer Cracker with Pork”.
Verotoxin-producing Escherichia coli bacteria were detected
According to the information, the company is recalling the item “Deer Cracker with Pork” (shelf life: December 11th, 2023; production date: November 3rd, 2023) for reasons of precautionary consumer protection.
The goods were sold within Thuringia in the Sömmerda district and in Erfurt (sales period November 20th, 2023 – November 30th, 2023) as well as in the Nordhausen district (sales period November 7th, 2023 – November 28th, 2023).
Based on a report from the Thuringian State Office for Consumer Protection, verotoxin-producing Escherichia coli bacteria (VTEC) were detected in this sausage.
The above-mentioned items purchased within the specified period can be returned to the manufacturer or specialist store. The money will be refunded.
The disease usually begins with diarrhea
Many VTEC infections occur without any signs of illness and therefore often remain undetected, reports the Austrian Federal Ministry of Social Affairs, Health, Care and Consumer Protection on its website.
The disease usually begins with watery diarrhea, which becomes increasingly watery and bloody as the disease progresses. Accompanying symptoms include nausea, increasing abdominal pain, rarely fever and vomiting.
Experience has shown that infants, small children, old people and people with weakened immune systems are more likely to become seriously ill. (ad)
