The company Heidemark Landfrische GmbH & Co. KG has initiated a recall for a popular sausage because a pathogen was detected during an inspection. Consumption of the product is strongly advised against. There is a risk of health problems such as diarrhea and flu-like symptoms.
The Federal Office of Consumer Protection and Food Safety (BVL) reports on its portal “www.lebensmittelwarnung.de” about a sausage recall by the company Heidemark Landfrische GmbH & Co. KG from Ahlhorn in Lower Saxony.
Listeria detected
The article “GUT&GÜNSTIG Delicatessen Poultry Meat Sausage” in the 400g packaging (2 x 200g) is affected by the recall, and only goods with a best-before date of August 1, 2024.
According to the information, the bacteria Listeria monocytogenes were detected in the product during a quality control. A health impairment cannot be ruled out. Consumption of the affected product is strongly advised against. The article was mainly sold at EDEKA and Marktkauf in the following federal states: Lower Saxony and the adjacent parts of North Rhine-Westphalia, Bremen, Saxony-Anhalt, Brandenburg, Berlin, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saarland, the southern half of Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg and adjacent parts of Hesse.
Consumers who have purchased the corresponding product with the stated best-before date can return it to their place of purchase for a refund of the purchase price, even without presenting the receipt.
Flu-like symptoms
Listeria are bacteria that can cause flu-like symptoms with fever and diarrhea, among other things. Pregnant women, small children and people with weakened immune systems in particular can be more severely affected by an infection with this pathogen. (ad)
