Where do ingrown hairs come from? With these methods, you will forget about this problem

Summer is in full swing. Many people, wearing shorts or skirts, take care to have smooth legs. Unfortunately, sometimes after shaving a certain problem appears. It is ingrown hairs. Why does this happen and how to prevent it?

Where do ingrown hairs come from? With these methods, you will forget about this problem

Ingrown hairs are just one of the many unpleasant effects of epilation. They usually appear on women's legs or bikini area. Unfortunately, they can cause a lot of pain. But why does this happen?

It turns out that ingrown hairs can depend on two factors. The first is the weakening of the hair itself. The second is the thick and keratinized stratum corneum of the epidermis.

Why do hairs grow in? This could be the reason

This problem can be exacerbated by several things. One of them is removing hair from the root. If we remove hair with an epilator, sugar paste or wax, we make it too thin and weak to penetrate the epidermis.

Poor hygiene of shaving accessories can also play a role in this, as they cause bacteria to multiply on them.

Ingrown hairs can also be caused by skipping an important part of your skin care routine, which is moisturizing. If it is not done regularly, it can lead to hardening of the skin, which will make it difficult for the hair to “come out”.

The same goes for irregular exfoliation of the skin. This causes the keratinized layer of the epidermis to become too thick, and the hair cannot penetrate it.

It is also worth emphasizing that the tendency to have ingrown hairs may also be genetically determined.

Peeling

So how do you prevent ingrown hairs? Fortunately, there are a few proven methods. The first is to exfoliate your body after depilation or shaving. It is important, however, that the exfoliation is made of sugar or other particles.

It would be good to do peelings regularly, about once every 7-10 days. However, there is no need to stress out and look for good peelings. You can do them yourself at home. We have collected recipes for homemade peelings for you in this article.

Exfoliation brush

If you are not a fan of exfoliation, you can also choose an alternative. It is dry body brushing, which not only exfoliates dead skin, but also firms, smoothes and improves blood circulation.

For this, however, we will need a special brush. Brushing is done a few hours before the planned depilation. This method is dedicated to people who have a problem with ingrown hairs in the calf and thigh area.

Moisturizing after depilation

We should not forget about moisturizing after depilation. You can use a milk, balm or cream for this. It is worth looking for those that contain vitamin E and urea, glycerin, ceramides or vegetable butters.

It is also worth remembering to frequently change razors and use foams, creams and other cosmetics that will allow for a smooth shave.

We emphasize that ingrown hairs should not be removed on your own. This can lead to wounds, scars, and even infections.
