Have you ever wondered why makeup or clothing colors look different on different people? Why gold jewelry suits some people while silver suits others, or why a soft pink blouse will make your reflection in the mirror look washed out. It's all because of their color type, which many stylists and makeup artists associate with the seasons:

  1. spring;
  2. summer;
  3. autumn;
  4. winter.

This division did not arise without reason. In the 1970s, psychologist Angela Wright discovered a connection between colors and human behavior. She divided colors into four groups according to the seasons.

Within each season, experts distinguish three subspecies:

  • “deep” or “dark”;
  • “warm” or “real”;
  • “soft”.

What does this or that color type consist of? Based on the skin tone, hair and eye color, as well as general halftones and contrasts in facial features. Autumn will soon come into its own, so let's talk about this color type.

What is the character of the “autumn”? They are goal-oriented and, as a rule, achieve success in business. Waking up in the morning, they are immediately ready to get down to business. Their movements are confident, and their speech sounds authoritative. They are not afraid to show their individuality and easily accept a challenge. However, they are stubborn and do not take criticism well. Because of their determination, they can seem dominant and imperious.

Representatives of this personality type love to create a cozy home environment in which natural wood, fabrics and stone dominate.

In clothing, it is best for them to choose orange, red, brown colors, as well as golden and earth tones.

Types of the Autumn color type

Autumn has three subgroups. Each has its own differences in brightness, intensity and warmth.

“Dark Autumn” or “Deep Autumn”

Description: Representatives of this subgroup have dark hair – dark brown, chestnut, dark blond or black with warm shades, such as golden. In bright sunlight, the hair gives a golden, red or yellow halo.

Their skin tone is more neutral with a warm undertone: from golden beige to caramel; from bronze to warm black; from golden light to warm olive. People with this subtype may have freckles, and their skin is paler in winter than in summer. But they tan quickly and practically do not burn.

“Deep Autumn” can have any eye color, but most often it is dark brown, blackish-brown, dark green.

Stellar example: Lily James, Kim Kardashian, Emily Ratajkowski, Penelope Cruz, Kate Mara, Eva Longoria, Jessica Alba, Sofia Vergara.

How to determine the subtype: When you look in the mirror, the first thing you notice is your dark hair and eyes. Your skin may also be dark, or it may be lighter. Regardless of skin color, there is always a strong contrast between your facial features. This is because the whites of your eyes and teeth create a strong contrast against the dark background of your eyes, hair, and skin.

‘Deep Autumn’ is the darkest variant in the autumn family. Its colour palette is reminiscent of late autumn evenings. The last rays of the sun fall on the ground, the shadows become long, but the warmth of the passing day is still present.

The color of the wardrobe: rust, amber, dark olive, dark blue-green, golden yellow, blue-green, medium dark sea blue, as well as chocolate brown, ripe eggplant, forest green, Dijon mustard, pumpkin, wine. From neutral tones, choose camel, cream, warm gray.

When building your wardrobe, start with a base of deep red, rich aqua or brown, then add additional colors and accents to bring out the warmth and depth of the palette.

Decorations: Go for rose and yellow gold. Metals that will also look good include bronze, brass, copper and pewter. Silver can also work, but make sure you choose a warm shade rather than a cool one. Warm, reddish stones such as carnelian, garnet and jasper are ideal for a dark autumn.

About author

I pass by being that person liable to duty, but who cannot resist the flights of imagination. I have always loved the legends, the myths and the stories of the old and distant times with my whole being. In high school I fell in love with the history of art and I made it the object of my university studies. Once I graduated, I dusted off an old flame: that of children's literature. I rediscovered the beauty and importance of illustrated books and books, where, to a quality text, images are added that give strength and enrich what is narrated with meaning. It can be said that illustrators often make real works of art! It was then that I decided to follow this passion of mine both as a volunteer, entering the ranks of readers born to read, and in my work as a librarian. I am a greedy devoured of illustrated books (I have an absolute weakness for the stories that have bears or wolves as protagonists!), I love simple stories that know how to strike and surprise. I hate pigeon-holed books in a specific age group and readers in a certain category of readings. I think everyone is different and deserves to choose (and be chosen by the books) without constraints, in complete freedom! [email protected]
