Dietitian reveals her favorite tip for controlling appetite and losing weight

Staying on course with your weight loss is not mission impossible. On TikTok, an American nutritionist reveals a simple tip to avoid breaking down. To reproduce from the next meal!

If you're trying to lose weight, hunger pangs and cravings may seem like the biggest threat of the day. But there is a simple way to push them away, as explained by nutritionist Lauren Huber on TikTok (aka @sororitynutritionist), who invites you to change just one small detail on your plate.

30 grams of protein in the morning and at midday

This tip involves adding proteins to your menu, in the morning and at lunchtime, which is not incompatible with following a low-calorie diet.

“The trick is this: you need to eat 30 grams or more of protein at breakfast and lunch” advises the expert. “It’s something I do absolutely every day”.

She says this will keep you full enough to not be tempted by processed, fatty snacks throughout the day. A strategy that is based not only on its professional expertise but also on its own experience. Even at 22 weeks pregnant, it demonstrates its effectiveness: “I'm not hungry. I barely eat snacks these days, and that's saying a lot.”

And what does she eat, for example, to achieve these 30 grams? The nutritionist's choice for breakfast and lunch is cottage cheese with eggs or a turkey burger loaded with lean protein. Nothing very long or complicated to prepare.

Why does it work?

Why is this protein intake interesting? The answer lies in the satiating power of this crucial macronutrient. “When 4 p.m. arrives, you will feel completely different”, promises Hubert. She's right on target. Research has consistently shown that protein is the most satiating macronutrient, meaning it keeps you feeling full and satisfied for longer periods of time, whereas carbohydrates or fats do not.

By starting the day with a meal rich in protein and continuing this pattern at lunch, you can effectively avoid the feeling of hunger at midday and prevent the drop in energy in the afternoon.

But the benefits go beyond just reducing hunger. Consuming enough protein throughout the day also plays a crucial role in supporting metabolic health. Protein has a higher thermic effect than carbohydrates or fats, meaning your body spends more energy digesting and metabolizing it.

Ultimately, this 30-gram tip has it all: By prioritizing protein at breakfast and lunch, you can control your appetite, support your metabolism, and ultimately achieve your weight loss goals.

About author

I pass by being that person liable to duty, but who cannot resist the flights of imagination. I have always loved the legends, the myths and the stories of the old and distant times with my whole being. In high school I fell in love with the history of art and I made it the object of my university studies. Once I graduated, I dusted off an old flame: that of children's literature. I rediscovered the beauty and importance of illustrated books and books, where, to a quality text, images are added that give strength and enrich what is narrated with meaning. It can be said that illustrators often make real works of art! It was then that I decided to follow this passion of mine both as a volunteer, entering the ranks of readers born to read, and in my work as a librarian. I am a greedy devoured of illustrated books (I have an absolute weakness for the stories that have bears or wolves as protagonists!), I love simple stories that know how to strike and surprise. I hate pigeon-holed books in a specific age group and readers in a certain category of readings. I think everyone is different and deserves to choose (and be chosen by the books) without constraints, in complete freedom! [email protected]
