Our skin sometimes needs extra hydration – especially in the summer. However, you don't have to reach for store-bought products to do this. I choose home methods, which are just as effective and much cheaper. This mask will not only nourish, but also smooth wrinkles and relieve acne.

Oatmeal in cosmetics. Cheap and simple mask

Homemade face masks are becoming increasingly popular. Not only are they natural, but they are also much cheaper. One of my personal favorites are oatmeal masks.

Not only are they incredibly easy to make, but they are also incredibly versatile. They work well on any skin type, and different additives can enhance its properties. There are tons of recipes for oatmeal masks, and each one can help with something different.

Oat flakes themselves are a common ingredient in cosmetics. This is because they are great for treating inflammation and redness of the skin. They are considered a rich source of vitamins such as B1, B6 and E.

What's more, they are rich in zinc, iron and calcium. Oat flakes are said to have anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anti-oxidant, antibacterial and anti-cancer properties. It's no wonder they are often used in cosmetics.

Their regular use can tighten pores, soothe inflammation, reduce the number of blackheads, nourish and smooth the skin, eliminate itching and exfoliate dead skin. Most importantly, oatmeal does not have any allergenic properties, so there are no contraindications to using them, even allergy sufferers could.

Brightening mask

There are tons of recipes for oatmeal masks. It all depends on what effects we want to achieve the most. If we need a mask for everyday care that will soothe and soften our skin, an oatmeal and milk mask will work best. Thanks to it, we will get radiant and youthful-looking skin. We will need:

  • one tablespoon of oatmeal
  • two tablespoons of milk
  • optional: cinnamon

Mix the oats and milk in a bowl and add cinnamon if necessary. Mix everything until smooth. Wash your face and neck thoroughly with warm water. Apply the mask and leave it on for about 20 minutes. After that time, wash it off gently with warm water.

Mask for mature skin

However, if we are looking for something for dry or mature skin, it is worth reaching for a different mask. It will not only moisturize our complexion, but will make it full of glow. To prepare it, we will need:

  • half a cup of oatmeal
  • egg
  • a spoonful of almond oil
  • half a banana
  • spoonful of honey.

Pour a glass of boiling water into a bowl and add oatmeal. Mix thoroughly and leave for 2 minutes. Then add honey and egg and mix until completely dissolved. Mash the banana and add to the bowl. Finally, pour in almond oil and mix thoroughly. Leave everything to cool. Then apply to cleansed face and leave for 10 minutes. After that time, wash off under running water.
