This sandwich bread gets the ultimate score of 100/100 on Yuka (and you can find it everywhere!)

Due to its composition, sandwich bread is rarely mentioned in “health” foods. However, there are certain references which accumulate good marks and can be integrated into a balanced diet. Yuka even found one that got a perfect score of 100/100.

Sliced bread bought in your supermarket is practical: it keeps for a long time, allows you to quickly prepare a sandwich, a croque monsieur, or even an avocado toast and is often a hit with the whole family. Problem, its composition is often not great. Added sugars, additives and preservatives are added to refined flour (and therefore devoid of all vitamins) in white sandwich breads, in particular. Wholemeal sandwich breads offer a slightly more interesting option but can still contain sugars and preservatives. The Yuka application has, however, detected certain references which are healthier than others.

The wholemeal sandwich bread to choose

Among the wholemeal flour sandwich breads, which preserves the whole grain and preserves all the fibers and vitamins, Yuka thus gives the 100/100 score to the organic wholemeal sandwich bread, without added sugars, from the La Boulangère brand.

  • This is indeed perfect for integrating your balanced diet into your daily life. With a low sugar content, i.e. 1.9 g per 100 g, and 252 kcal, this product stands out for its excellent protein and fiber content, displaying 10 g and 6.9 g respectively;
  • According to Yuka, there are no pesticides or risky additives in this sandwich bread;
  • Another good point is that its production has a low impact on the environment and no palm oil is used;
  • The only small flaw is that this sandwich bread is slightly too salty (less than 1 g per 100 g).

Where to find this rare gem? Well almost everywhere: you will find this reference at Carrefour, Intermarché, Cora or even Monoprix…

NO to diets, YES to WW!

Other sandwich breads that stand out from the crowd

According to the famous app, it's not the only bread to get a good rating. With 94/100, there are also four interesting distributor brands:

  • Auchan Bio brand organic wholemeal sandwich bread;
  • Carrefour Bio wholemeal sandwich bread;
  • U Bio whole wheat flour sandwich bread;
  • Whole wheat sandwich bread from the Repère Bio Village brand distributed at E.Leclerc.

These four references have the same qualities: they are all without additives or pesticides, retain a large quantity of fiber and protein, respectively 4.6 g and 8.4 g per 100 g and the number of calories is equivalent for the four references , or approximately 275 kcal per 100 g.

Enough to treat you to a good breakfast!

About author

I pass by being that person liable to duty, but who cannot resist the flights of imagination. I have always loved the legends, the myths and the stories of the old and distant times with my whole being. In high school I fell in love with the history of art and I made it the object of my university studies. Once I graduated, I dusted off an old flame: that of children's literature. I rediscovered the beauty and importance of illustrated books and books, where, to a quality text, images are added that give strength and enrich what is narrated with meaning. It can be said that illustrators often make real works of art! It was then that I decided to follow this passion of mine both as a volunteer, entering the ranks of readers born to read, and in my work as a librarian. I am a greedy devoured of illustrated books (I have an absolute weakness for the stories that have bears or wolves as protagonists!), I love simple stories that know how to strike and surprise. I hate pigeon-holed books in a specific age group and readers in a certain category of readings. I think everyone is different and deserves to choose (and be chosen by the books) without constraints, in complete freedom! [email protected]
