  • Improper skin care in the summer can contribute to the development of pimples, wrinkles and irritation. The impact of UV radiation can negatively affect not only the skin, but also the hair. That’s why proper care is so important. Here are the most common care mistakes made in summer.

    Not using sunscreen

The summer season and intense UV radiation are not good for our skin. It contributes to discoloration, uneven skin tone and accelerates photoaging of the skin, which results in faster sagging and the appearance of wrinkles. The skin becomes dry, devoid of firmness and radiance.

When the sun’s rays are strong, we should definitely use creams with SPF filter for the skin – especially for the face.

Unfortunately, sunscreen applied incorrectly will not provide the skin with adequate protection. Apply the cream to your skin at least 30 minutes before leaving home. Importantly, we should remember to reapply the cream after three hours, because this is only how long the protective filter lasts.

Sunscreen should also be applied under foundation. Of course, then we don’t have to reapply it after three hours to our carefully prepared makeup.

    Not using peelings

The sweat that our skin secretes in summer retains sebum and dirt. Pores become clogged, which leads to various types of skin problems. Pimples and redness appear.

That is why it is so important to exfoliate dead skin cells at least once a week. Remember, the skin may be red after peeling, so we should always do it in the evening.

    Not using moisturizing masks

In summer, we often forget to use moisturizing and firming masks. Sun-dried skin needs nourishment and moisturization. However, not every product will be suitable for every skin type.

For dry skin, we choose cosmetics that moisturize, soothe and regenerate dry epidermis. It is worth choosing those that contain hyaluronic acid, which binds moisture to the skin.

On the other hand, for combination or oily skin, it is better to use lighter masks that will not weigh down or clog pores. At least twice a week, before going to bed, apply a mask to your face.

    Not using protective lipstick

Although protective lipstick is mainly associated with frost and lubrication of chapped lips, you cannot forget about it in the summer. The skin of the lips, which is very delicate, also needs protection from the sun and moisture. In summer, it is worth choosing a lipstick with an SPR filter and applying it to your lips before going out into the sun.

    Incorrect make-up removal

Often, especially in summer, we remove makeup quickly and carelessly. A quick wash with a cotton pad will not completely remove the dirt, which may contribute to the formation of skin imperfections and wrinkles.

Many women use the same cotton pad and cosmetic to wash their face, eyes, eyelashes and eyebrows. Mistake! To wash your eyes, use a cotton pad soaked in eye and eyelash makeup remover.

We wash the eyelashes with gentle movements, and then wash the rest of the face with an appropriately selected preparation.

Milks and gels are suitable for removing make-up from dry, combination and seborrheic skin. In turn, micellar fluid is suitable for the care of all skin types. It is better to avoid alkaline soaps, which irritate the skin and damage its protective layer.

    Makeup addiction

Many women cannot imagine leaving home without full, carefully made make-up. And while in winter, when the skin is pale and lacking radiance, we do not have to give it up, in the summer, when the skin is beautifully tanned and illuminated, it is worth trying a “day without makeup”.

Maybe at the weekend? Too heavy makeup burdens the skin, causes profuse sweating, clogs pores and leads to pimples. It is not true that makeup will replace sunscreen.

    Hair removal before sunbathing

Shaving your legs or bikini just before going to the beach or swimming pool is one of the most common mistakes made in summer.

Women don’t even realize that they are harming their skin. Shaving your body before exposure to sunlight may cause skin irritation, redness, or even burns.

    Dry hair

We often forget about our hair, which in summer is exposed not only to drying solar radiation, but also to salty sea water.

Before washing your hair, it is a good idea to oil your hair ends, and after washing your hair, always apply a regenerative mask for a few minutes. When we go out into the sun, put on a hat, scarf or cap.
