Wet hair effect

Slicked-back hair reigned supreme this season, in two versions: loose but pulled back on top, and mermaid-like with strands on or around the face. The former, and more practical, was the look stylists used at Helmut Lang. Models walked the runway with slicked-back hair, as if they’d just stepped outside with slightly damp hair that had been blown dry by the wind. To create the look, lead stylist Jawara first applied a thickening spray, then dried the hair with a round brush to create lift. For texture, the stylist dried the ends and pinned the strands. To give the hair even more volume, he added shine gel, applying it from root to tip, then smoothed it with shine oil.

Jawara was also responsible for the Prabal Gurung models, where he created wet, mermaid-like curls. He applied a strong hold mousse from root to tip. He then divided the hair into three sections, applying gel through a bun at the front and tucking a strand behind the ear, leaving a few strands hanging loose and pinning the rest at the nape of the neck to form a cross. He finished with a strong hold spray on the facial hair and set the style with a blow dryer.

Side parting

Partings are back – both straight and to the side. If the former will not surprise anyone, then the side option was chosen for their shows by many brands, for example, Fendi, Max Mara, Mugler, Emilia Wickstead, Mugler, Tory Burch.

At Monse, global design lead Kien Hoang created a wet-look look paired with a side part that was set with a strong hold spray. The wet-look/slicked-back ballerina bun hybrid that was all the rage last summer is reminiscent of the 2010s hairstyles that are on the rise again.

Light wave effect

The perfect Barbie hairstyles of summer 2023 and this year's “Woodstock waves” have given way to weightless, elegant curls, as seen on the Chloé runway.

“For fall, we're continuing the retro theme, but going for a sleeker look,” Jake Schaverien, a stylist at Hari's, told Harpers Bazaar. To achieve this look, he suggests curling the hair with a brush or rollers, then brushing through and adding a shine spray.

About author

I pass by being that person liable to duty, but who cannot resist the flights of imagination. I have always loved the legends, the myths and the stories of the old and distant times with my whole being. In high school I fell in love with the history of art and I made it the object of my university studies. Once I graduated, I dusted off an old flame: that of children's literature. I rediscovered the beauty and importance of illustrated books and books, where, to a quality text, images are added that give strength and enrich what is narrated with meaning. It can be said that illustrators often make real works of art! It was then that I decided to follow this passion of mine both as a volunteer, entering the ranks of readers born to read, and in my work as a librarian. I am a greedy devoured of illustrated books (I have an absolute weakness for the stories that have bears or wolves as protagonists!), I love simple stories that know how to strike and surprise. I hate pigeon-holed books in a specific age group and readers in a certain category of readings. I think everyone is different and deserves to choose (and be chosen by the books) without constraints, in complete freedom! [email protected]
