A micronutritionist, Angélique Houlbert, reveals in her book the yogurt to favor for weight loss. To confirm his remarks, TipsForWomens interviewed Alexandra Murcier, dietician-nutritionist, who gives us her point of view on the question.
Do you like dairy products and are looking for yogurt that will allow you to combine pleasure and slimming? According to Angélique Houlbert, nutrition expert and author of the practical guide Le Bon Choix au supermarket published by Éditions Thierry Souccar, interviewed by Elle magazine, there is indeed a product, sold in supermarkets, which allows you to combine these two aspects.
A commercially sold yogurt with a popular taste
This yogurt is skyr! Naturally rich in protein and relatively low in sugar, it limits cravings and helps maintain a healthy weight. This Icelandic yogurt is particularly popular as a snack, because it is rich in calcium and filling.
It’s easy to add a few pieces of fruit or simple chocolate shavings to make it more delicious. But be careful, the expert recommends a particular skyr: the one sold by the Yoplait brand, which costs around 7 euros per kilo.
“Skyr is a food that can help with weight loss”
When interviewed, dietician-nutritionist Alexandra Murcier sees many benefits of skyr. According to her, it is a “protein-rich yogurt, which prevents cravings, but also low in calories and not too fatty, which can help with weight loss”. On the other hand, it draws our attention to several important points:
- “Be careful to choose the least processed skyr possible because there are many flavored and very sweet skyrs (tiramisu flavor, crème brûlée, etc.). With these products, we move away from the initial benefits because they are too sweet or rich in sweeteners” ;
- To choose the right skyr, “we prefer the one with the shortest list of ingredients, natural flavor if possible, and we can put a fruit in it to sweeten it, it will make a perfect snack” ;
- Finally, Alexandra Murcier rightly notes, “the problem with skyr is that it is very expensive. As an alternative, she recommends the little Swiss or white cheese which are almost as rich in protein” she concludes.
