How to draw arrows on the eyes
Eyeliner can be liquid or in the form of a felt-tip liner
Arrows can be created in several ways, it is more a matter of personal preference. To create this makeup element, makeup artists use:
- Eyeliner. With its help, the thinnest, most contrasting lines are created. Eyeliner can be liquid or in the form of a felt-tip liner; The first one is more difficult to work with, but this is a matter of practice.
- Eyeliner. It is more familiar to most beginners; it is easier for them to draw clear lines of varying degrees of saturation.
- Eyeshadow. Suitable for soft, shaded arrows, can be used over eyeliner and pencil.
Types of arrows for the eyes
The relevance of the arrows depends on which trends to focus on
Arrows can be chosen depending on the shape of the eyes, personal preferences and circumstances. So, the classic is relevant in any case, but it can be complicated by additional elements, color, shimmer, glitter and unusual shapes.
According to Irena Shimshilashvili, the relevance of arrows depends on which trends to focus on: “On Tik Tok, arrows that visually elongate the eyes and make them look “cat-like” are now popular. On the podium there is a more creative direction: graphic, unusual and large, colored arrows. For bloggers it’s a more commercial story – eyes like Kim Kardashian.”

How to learn to draw arrows
The main advice for beginners is more practice
If you haven’t drawn arrows yourself before, it’s better to practice in your free time. This is a rather complex element of makeup, and besides, you have to repeat it twice – for both eyes. Ideally, the results obtained should be absolutely identical.
Irena Shimshilashvili believes that the main advice for beginners is more practice: “This is how you will understand the features of your eyes and take into account the anatomy of your face. To learn how to paint your eyes, you need to practice. I recommend drawing arrows in front of a large mirror; The small one from the powder compacts will not work. It is in a large mirror that you can see the whole face at once, and this way you can examine the nuances and correct mistakes if something is drawn sloppily and asymmetrically.”
Before proceeding with complex arrow options, you need to master the classic one. Prepare the necessary decorative cosmetics in advance and follow the step-by-step instructions:
- Cleanse your face as usual, wipe with toner, apply your usual moisturizers and wait until they are completely absorbed.
- Use foundation if necessary. For light summer makeup, you can skip them.
- Arrows can be drawn both over eye shadow and on the clean eyelid. In any case, it makes sense to use a primer that will smooth the skin and set the makeup.
- Start drawing a thin tail line from the outer corner of the eye, continuing upward to the eyebrow.
- With another thin line, highlight the eyelid along the lash line. It can pass both from the inner corner of the eye to the outer corner, and from the middle of the eyelid.
- Connect the tail of the arrow to its base, narrowing the line towards the inner corner of the eyes. The width of the arrow can be varied, and the shape can be aligned by filling it with pigment.
- Draw the space between the eyelashes of the upper eyelid with a pencil so that there are no gaps.
- Finally, coat your eyelashes with mascara and spray on a liquid primer spray to set your makeup.
Eyeliner
Most often, arrows are drawn with eyeliner. It allows you to create smooth, clear lines and vary the width of the arrows. To draw them:
- prepare the skin of the eyelids, apply a base primer;
- carefully remove excess from the eyeliner brush so that the line does not smudge;
- draw a thin line along the growth of the eyelashes and draw it to the intended point outside the outer corner of the eye;
- connect the tip to the main line and sketch in the spaces.
Pencil
A pencil is easier to use, but it is important to ensure that it is well sharpened. Otherwise, you won’t be able to draw neat, thin lines. The procedure is the same as with eyeliner:
- clean and degrease the skin, apply base;
- to decorate the interlash space;
- draw an arrow line – a little thicker along the eyelid, with a pointed tip towards the temple;
- Pull the eyelid slightly to evenly paint the liner.
Using the same principle, arrows are drawn with a liner: it is similar to a felt-tip pen and gives a clearer result compared to a pencil. Irena Shimshilashvili clarifies that the arrow drawn in pencil is most likely…
