A chemical contaminant banned in the European Union

Analyzes revealed the presence of nitrofurans (furazolidone), chemical contaminants banned in the European Union. “Nitrofurans and their metabolites are antimicrobial agents whose use in food of animal origin in the Union is prohibited. Therefore, nitrofurans are included in Table 2 of the Annex to Commission Regulation (EU) No 37/2010 (2) on prohibited substances, for which it is not possible to set maximum residue limits.” , explains EU Regulation 37/2010 published on February 23, 2023.
