A recall for popular potato chips is currently underway. Some people should refrain from consuming the product because health consequences for them cannot be ruled out.
According to consumer information published by the Federal Office of Consumer Protection and Food Safety (BVL) on its “lebensmittelwarning.de” portal, the snack manufacturer Intersnack SE, based in Cologne, is recalling a few packs of the “funny” product for reasons of precautionary consumer protection. “Fresh Chipsfrisch Hungarian” in the 150 gram pack.
Allergen not marked
Affected by this recall is the product “funny-frisch Chipsfrisch Hungarian” in the 150 gram pack, with the batch number LHB 32 B and the best before date (BBD) January 1, 2024. This information can be found on the back top left of the packaging.
According to the information, a few packages of the product withdrawn from the market were filled with “Sour Cream” flavor products instead of “Hungarian” flavored potato chips.
The spice used for the “Sour Cream” flavor contains the allergen milk, which is not declared on the packaging. However, the packaged goods are of impeccable quality.
According to the company, the recall was purely a precautionary measure to protect people who suffer from a milk protein allergy or lactose intolerance. Experts advise these people not to consume the affected product because health consequences for them cannot be ruled out. The product can be consumed safely by all other people.
Intersnack SE asks consumers to send a photo of the affected product – which shows the batch number – to the contact address of the funny-frisch consumer service. The purchased product will be replaced. (ad)
