Two companies are currently recalling sausages. Yellow sausage products and salamis are affected. The recalls are due to a foreign body and contamination with a diarrhea pathogen.
The Federal Office of Consumer Protection and Food Safety (BVL) reports on two recalls for sausages on its portal “www.lebensmittelwarning.de”. One recall concerns yellow sausage products and the other various salamis.
Piece of metal discovered
According to one report, the Chiemgauer Naturfleisch company is recalling a batch of yellow sausage product from the market. The recall affects the following products:
- Organic yellow sausage, stick, 140 g batch BMDZO with a best before date of October 31, 2023
- Organic yellow sausage, stick, 800 g batch BMDZP with a best before date of November 19, 2023
The reason for this measure is that a piece of metal was found in a bar from this production.
Customers who have purchased goods from this batch and still have them at home can bring them back to the store and receive a refund of the purchase price.
Experts advise against consuming foods that may contain foreign bodies. This can lead to injuries in the mouth or even internal injuries.
Verotoxin-producing E. coli detected
Furthermore, Wurzener Wildspezialitäten GmbH is informing about a recall for the following products:
- Item 1600 Venison salami 400 g batch number 2318608
- Article 1548 Venison salami 180 g batch number 2318605
According to the information, the batch number is located on a small sticker on the outer packaging. If the batch number of the above-mentioned items can no longer be determined, then assume you purchased it between July 18th, 2023 and October 23rd, 2023, writes the company.
Sausages with the above batch numbers or purchased within the specified period can be returned to the company. The purchase price will be refunded.
Based on a report from the Saxony State Research Institute, verotoxin-producing E. coli was detected in the two articles.
After consuming products contaminated with these bacteria, gastrointestinal complaints, sometimes including fever, may occur. Diarrhea can occur, sometimes severe and bloody. (ad)
