A recall is currently underway for various toast breads that were sold at Lidl and Edeka, among others. The products may contain foreign bodies, which is why consumption is not recommended as a health risk cannot be ruled out.
The Federal Office for Consumer Protection and Food Safety (BVL) reports on its portal “www.lebensmittelwarning.de” about recalls for various toast breads. Products that were sold at Lidl, Edeka and Marktkauf are affected.
Toast could contain foreign plastic particles
According to the BVL, the Dutch manufacturer Bakkerij Holland is currently recalling the products “Grafschafter Weizen Sandwich American Style, 750g” and “Grafschafter Whole Grain Sandwich American Style, 750g” with all best-before dates up to and including May 21, 2024.
The affected toast bread was only sold by Lidl in Central Europe in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia.
It cannot be ruled out that the affected goods contain foreign plastic particles. Due to the possible risk of injury if consumed, customers should definitely pay attention to the recall and under no circumstances consume the affected products.
The products can be returned to all Lidl branches. The purchase price will be refunded, even without presentation of the receipt.
Consumption is not recommended
Furthermore, Bakkerij Holland informs about a product recall for “GUT&GÜNSTIG Sandwich Toast Wheat” and “GUT&GÜNSTIG Sandwich Toast Whole Grain”, each in the 750 g pack. Items with printed best-before dates up to and including May 21, 2024 are affected.
According to a customer notice published on the portal “www.lebensmittelwarning.de”, it cannot be ruled out that there could be white plastic foreign bodies in individual packs of the affected batches. Therefore, for reasons of preventive consumer protection, we also advise against consuming the products.
The affected items were offered in North Rhine-Westphalia and neighboring regions of Lower Saxony and Rhineland-Palatinate at EDEKA and Marktkauf.
Consumers who have purchased one of the products with the above-mentioned best-before dates can return it to their shopping location for a refund of the purchase price, even without presenting the receipt. (ad)
