Summer manicure: main trends and anti-trends of the season

Summer is a time of renewal, new things come into our wardrobe, and products on the cosmetics shelf change. Fashion trends are responsible for all this; every season requires you to be at the peak of relevance. Manicure is no exception. We look at the catwalks and choose the most interesting design, color and shape of nails.

Summer manicure: trends 2024

It is traditionally believed that dark polishes and short nails are popular in winter and autumn, because we often hide them in mittens and gloves. But in the summer you can turn to light shades and intricate designs – your hands are always visible. Fashion trends for 2024 confirm this rule.

Colors

  • Pantone

The main shade of 2024 according to the Color Institute is the delicate peach Peach Fuzz. A neutral combination of pink and orange tones is suitable for a classic nude manicure. Nail polish brands have already added it to their collections.

  • Blue and all its shades

Blue, turquoise, azure, sapphire, indigo, cobalt, even mint and cornflower – any shades will do, but heavenly and pastel are at the peak of trends.

  • Ballerina nails

It's not about form, but about decor. Yulia Bakhareva: “Ballerina nails are very popular – this is an almost invisible coating in pink, creamy white, milky shades with the addition of small details – small stickers, drawings, especially hearts, flowers, shoes. This also includes decor made of pearls and a soft pink rub.”

  • Bright red

This color will never go out of fashion, only trendy shades change. This summer, a flashy red with an orange undertone is popular, as if there is fire on your fingers.

  • Almost transparent

Yulia Bakhareva: “The lip gloss effect is relevant in the design – a transparent glossy layer of varnish. This is a very popular option among lovers of discreet manicure. “Ice queen nails” are also trending, reminiscent of glaze with decoration sealed inside—mica or dried flowers.”

  • Jelly coating

According to Yulia Bakhareva, this manicure is actively gaining popularity: “A transparent, jelly-like coating that makes your nails look like they were covered in honey or dipped in berry syrup.”

The natural nail is visible through the translucent layer, which adds freshness and volume to the manicure.

Design

The more intricate your nail designs this summer, the better.

The time of simple nails is apparently gone. Nowadays the nail industry offers maximum creativity. Therefore, the more intricate the design on your nails this summer, the better.

  • French manicure

This season, French manicure remains relevant, but in an updated version. Yulia Bakhareva says that the main difference is the ultra-thin curved lines at the tips of the nails: “They can be absolutely any color. The result is a subtle, elegant design.”

  • Metal

Yulia Bakhareva: “For those who find pastels boring, nails with the effect of molten metal are still in trend. Any variations that imitate three-dimensionality are suitable: “cat’s eye”, thin lines, full coverage in silver, gold, bronze.”

  • 1990s style

Fashion is cyclical, and many modern trends are echoes of well-forgotten old ones. Yulia Bakhareva advises paying attention to a provocative manicure with daring images, a complete contrast to the elegant classics: “You can combine glossy and matte finishes, voluminous decor in the form of chains, stars, spikes with rhinestones and sparkles, dark shades with bright ones.”

Form

When choosing a trendy shape, always focus, first of all, on those options that suit your structure of nails, fingers and hands. According to Yulia Bakhareva, there is a trend towards a return to the natural shape of nails, which means the length should be safe and natural: “Natural length is when the free edge does not exceed the length of the nail plate. It will be different in each case. The ideal length is when the fingertip is covered. This is the most current trend. Popular shapes: square, oval, almond or intermediate options.”

  • Short with rounded edges

Even for the most neutral manicure, you can shorten your nails, like at the Rodarte show. Especially if the image itself is bright.

About author

I pass by being that person liable to duty, but who cannot resist the flights of imagination. I have always loved the legends, the myths and the stories of the old and distant times with my whole being. In high school I fell in love with the history of art and I made it the object of my university studies. Once I graduated, I dusted off an old flame: that of children's literature. I rediscovered the beauty and importance of illustrated books and books, where, to a quality text, images are added that give strength and enrich what is narrated with meaning. It can be said that illustrators often make real works of art! It was then that I decided to follow this passion of mine both as a volunteer, entering the ranks of readers born to read, and in my work as a librarian. I am a greedy devoured of illustrated books (I have an absolute weakness for the stories that have bears or wolves as protagonists!), I love simple stories that know how to strike and surprise. I hate pigeon-holed books in a specific age group and readers in a certain category of readings. I think everyone is different and deserves to choose (and be chosen by the books) without constraints, in complete freedom! [email protected]
