This gesture of solidarity that you can make before Christmas

Want to please the little ones this Christmas? Bayard Jeunesse is joining forces with Emmaüs and inviting children and their families to make a nice gesture, through a unique operation.

In a particularly difficult current context (the drop in the purchasing power of the French should be between 1.2% and 2% at the end of 2023, according to the OFCE), Bayard Jeunesse and Emmaüs wanted to spoil the little ones. How ? By carrying out a massive collection of second-hand toys.

A second life for all toys

While Christmas is a special time for many of us, not all children are lucky enough to have Santa Claus drop off gifts under the tree.

To remedy this, Bayard Jeunesse is joining forces this year with Emmaüs, in order to encourage little French men and women to donate their toys.

The idea of this vast solidarity operation? Caring for others, while making little ones aware of second-hand goods.

How to participate in the operation?

Concretely, children and adolescents are invited to choose an object to donate, then to tell its story on a label (downloadable from the Bayard Jeunesse website or to cut out from the December magazines), and finally to bring the object to the Emmaüs store closest to them.

The object will have a second life, and another child will be able to love it in turn.

It’s a great opportunity for young people to understand the benefits of donating, for themselves and for others, to talk about the benefits of second-hand goods, and to make a good gesture for the planet. It is also an opportunity to support an association which offers a second life to objects and a second chance to the men and women who work there.“, assures Valérie Fayard, Deputy General Director of Emmaüs France.

For her part, Delphine Saulière, Director of Bayard Jeunesse magazines, says she is happy to initiate this lasting and united momentum.

Through this action, we want to help children to better understand the issues of sustainability, to become aware of the emotional value of the objects they use, and to acquire the reflex of giving, transmission and generosity.“, she explains.

In terms of deadlines, it is possible to deposit said object from November 22 to December 31, 2023 in all Emmaüs branches in France.
