Be careful, a batch of smoked trout from the Maison Peneau brand is being recalled this Thursday, October 12. This would contain possible traces of Listeria. For your health, it is therefore recommended not to consume it.

Smoked trout from the Pyrenees with Île de Ré salt, sold in Carrefour and Scalandes stores, could contain Listeria bacteria. This product is therefore recalled throughout Europe and consumers are required not to consume it.

What to do if you have consumed the product

Pyrenees smoked trout with Île de Ré salt has been recalled due to microbiological non-compliance. Indeed, analyzes of the product revealed traces of the Listeria bacteria. This can lead to a risk of listeriosis for the consumer. Listeriosis is a bacterial infection that can be serious and has an incubation period of up to eight weeks. People who have consumed the product could then suffer from fever, headaches and body aches, linked to the bacteria ingested in the smoked trout.

If you experience these symptoms, it is important to contact your doctor and report the consumption of this product as soon as possible.

The government website states:Serious forms with neurological complications and maternal or fetal damage in pregnant women can also sometimes occur. Pregnant women as well as immunocompromised people and the elderly should be particularly attentive to these symptoms“.

Thus, Carrefour and Scalandes stores encourage their consumers to no longer use the product, destroy it or return it to the point of sale. They are also offering a refund for this product until October 30, 2023, to compensate for this error.
