Hohenloher Molkerei eG has started a milk recall. Microbiological contamination was detected in the product. Consumption could lead to health problems. The milk was sold at EDEKA and Marktkauf in several federal states.
As the Federal Office of Consumer Protection and Food Safety (BVL) reports on its portal “www.lebensmittelwarning.de”, the company Hohenloher Molkerei eG from Schwäbisch Hall, Baden-Württemberg, is recalling milk due to microbiological contamination.
Milk could become thick and sour
According to the information, Hohenloher Molkerei eG is recalling the item GUT&GÜNSTIG UHT whole milk 3.5% fat (1 liter).
Only goods sold in the federal states of Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Hesse, Saxony and Thuringia with the best before date (BBD) of March 27, 2024 and the oval health mark DE BW 010 EG are affected. Other items, manufacturers or best before dates are not affected.
According to the company, microbiological contamination was detected in individual cases during routine inspections. It cannot therefore be ruled out that the affected milk becomes thick and sour and can cause health problems if consumed.
The cause of the contamination has been identified beyond doubt and has since been remedied.
Purchase price will be refunded
The milk with the above labeling was offered exclusively at regional level in individual EDEKA and Marktkauf markets in Baden-Württemberg as well as in northern Bavaria and the neighboring areas of Hesse, Saxony and Thuringia.
Hohenloher Molkerei eG and the affected dealers reacted immediately and completely removed the goods from sale.
Consumers who have purchased the corresponding product with the stated best before date and health mark can return it to their place of purchase for a refund of the purchase price, even without presenting the receipt. (ad)
