To finally overcome bloating, gas and other digestive disorders that cause the stomach to swell, certain herbal teas are recommended, according to Raphaël Gruman, dietitian-nutritionist.
At the start of winter, the desire for comforting dishes is felt. But raclettes and other gratins are not without consequences: they cause stomach aches, bloating and even unsightly swelling. The trick to remedying this? Favor certain herbal teas, recommended by our expert.
Strong allies against the swollen belly
Faced with small everyday digestive problems, certain plants seem to work wonders. They thus improve transit, restore the balance of the intestinal microbiota and even reduce the risk of inflammation.
Le psyllium blond
The first plant to keep carefully in your cupboards? The plant Plantago ovata (Indian plantain), also called “blonde psyllium” or “ispaghul”. Its seeds, very rich in soluble fiber, are used to relieve constipation, but also diarrhea.
In addition, blond psyllium helps keep the digestive tract healthy and thus contributes to weight loss.
A plant that it would be a shame to do without, according to our expert.
“Indian plantain is interesting for transit, because it will release probiotics in the colon. These good bacteria will then digest the nutrients, which will help avoid colonic fermentation, the cause of bloating.“, says Raphaël Gruman.
How to consume it?
Mix a teaspoon of powder into your herbal tea and consume it immediately. The maximum recommended dose? 20 g per day (i.e. 1 tablespoon), to be taken in several doses.
The curly mallow
This rare plant from China acts as a drainer for the body.
In other words, it helps to deeply eliminate toxins from the liver, kidneys and intestines.
“Curly mallow is a laxative plant, helping to avoid constipation. Take it at the end of the day, to have a “flat stomach” effect when you wake up.“, advises the nutrition expert.
How to consume it?
Pour the equivalent of a tablespoon of plant per cup of hot water, then let it infuse for 5 to 10 minutes.
