Please note, several batches of merguez marketed throughout Europe are the subject of a product recall due to contamination by a bacteria: salmonella. Quickly discover contaminated batches.

Marketed throughout Europe, batches of “LA MONTLOUISIENNE” merguez have been removed from the shelves. For your health, it is strongly recommended to no longer consume these contaminated products.

According to the government site Rappel Conso, a recall concerning merguez sold throughout Europe. Here is the information regarding defective batches:

What should you do if you have consumed one of the contaminated batches of merguez?

Salmonellosis is caused by the Salmonella bacteria. It mainly causes gastrointestinal disorders (diarrhea, vomiting) often accompanied by fever and headaches. These symptoms generally occur 6 to 72 hours after consuming contaminated products.

“People who have consumed these products and who present these symptoms are invited to consult their doctor and report this consumption”specifies the site.

In the absence of symptoms within 7 days after consumption of the merguez concerned, “There is no need to worry and consult a doctor.”. If the product must be cooked before consumption: cooking the products (hard-boiled eggs, pastries, poultry meat, etc.) through the core at +65°C helps destroy these bacteria and prevent the consequences of such contamination.

The most fragile people must nevertheless be extra careful. The symptoms of the disease can in fact be increased tenfold in children, pregnant women, immunocompromised individuals and the elderly.

The product must not be consumed and can be returned to the point of sale for a refund, until the recall procedure ends on April 9, 2024.
