Hugely successful actress, Gina Carano was fired for her "unacceptable statements"
She was a martial arts champion even before becoming an actress, and today Gina Carano is famous for some of her unforgettable roles in film and TV – in particular, for her participation in The Mandalorian series. But we will not see it in the coming seasons, due to an unfortunate event.
Born in 1982, Gina Joy Carano is an Italian American actress whose paternal roots lie in Puglia. Also from his father, in addition to Italian origins, he inherited the passion for sport: if he was a great football player, his daughter has dedicated herself to the most varied activities. In college she led the women's basketball team, then played volleyball and softball. However, she eventually found her way and specialized in mixed martial arts. She has fought for years, becoming one of the most famous female wrestlers in the world with the nickname "Crush", and has won numerous awards internationally.
For some time, her sports career was intertwined with that of an actress. Gina made her debut in 2005 with the documentary Ring Girls, a cult centered on some female wrestlers, and later took part in several reality shows dedicated to martial arts. It was only in 2009 that he made his film debut with the action film Blood and Bone, a moment which marked his retirement from the ring. Choosing the path of acting, Carano has had more and more space in successful films, such as Knockout – Showdown (in which she had a starring role, alongside stars such as Michael Fassbender and Antonio Banderas) and Fast & Furious 6.
Gina gained more notoriety on television when, in 2019, she was chosen to play the character of Cara Dune in the TV series The Mandalorian, distributed on Disney +. In February 2021, however, his dismissal was announced. A representative of Lucasfilm, the production company of the hit show, said: “Gina Carano is not currently engaged at Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future. On the other hand, his social media posts that denigrate people on the basis of their cultural and religious identities are abominable and unacceptable ".
This is not the first time the actress has been criticized for her social positions. Recently, he had expressed his skepticism for the use of the mask during the Covid-19 pandemic, while in this case some of his post-deniers about the persecution of Jews in Nazi Germany ended up at the center of attention.
