The son of Eugenia of York and Jack Brooksbank may not inherit the Duchy of York due to tradition and mother's decisions
Eugenie of York pregnant with first child
2021 will be a year full of joy for Eugenia of York. The granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth, in fact, has recently announced her first pregnancy. News that the whole Royal Family welcomed with great happiness. However, the Princess's son may not receive any titles.
Eugenia of York is a real Princess. She is, in fact, the second daughter of Prince Andrew, third son of Queen Elizabeth and Philip of Edinburgh, and Sarah Ferguson. Apparently, however, this may not be enough to pass on a noble title to your boy or girl. The causes are to be found in the man she chose to marry and in the tradition: the titles are only transmitted to male descendants.
The Princess, in 2018, married Jack Brooksbank, an important wine entrepreneur with whom she is deeply in love. After being married, if Eugenia was able to maintain her status as a member of the Royal Family, assuming only the appellation of 'Mrs. Brooskbank', he has not received any noble title to pass on to his heirs.
The son of Eugenia and Jack thus, despite being the first grandson of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, will not be able to inherit the Duchy of York. A real problem because, for the same reason, the title will not be able to pass even to the future children of Princess Beatrice, his eldest daughter, who recently married Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi in an extremely private ceremony. It will most likely be reabsorbed by the Monarchy which will then be able to reassign it at will.
But it doesn't stop there. The title could, in the future, be awarded to Prince Harry. Traditionally, in fact, it is given to the second son of the Monarch. Should Charles become King, therefore, he could decide to donate it to his second son.
A truly particular scenario, considering that Harry, after marrying Meghan Markle, progressively distanced himself from the Royal Family, giving rise to a real separation by moving to the United States of America.
In short, Eugenia, Beatrice and their families seem destined to lose the Duchy of York. Queen Elizabeth, however, has shown on several occasions that she is very attached to her grandchildren: will she allow them to keep the noble title and pass it on to their children?
