The company Estyria Naturprodukte GmbH from Austria has started a recall for the product “Gut Bio Sunflower Seeds” in the 650 gram pack. Consuming the product could lead to gastrointestinal illnesses due to contamination with salmonella. The sunflower seeds were sold at Aldi.
The Federal Office of Consumer Protection and Food Safety (BVL) reports on its portal “www.lebensmittelwarning.de” about a recall of sunflower seeds from the manufacturer Estyria Naturprodukte GmbH from St. Ruprecht/Raab (Austria).
Salmonella detected
The product “Gut Organic Sunflower Seeds, 650g” is therefore being recalled, and only goods with the batch number 23007616/1 and with the best before date (BBD) 03.2025.
The company wrote in a statement that salmonella was found to be positive during its own tests.
Salmonella are bacteria that can cause gastrointestinal diseases (salmonellosis). Since a health risk cannot be ruled out, customers should definitely pay attention to the recall and not consume the affected product.
Purchase price will be refunded
According to the information, the affected product “Gut Organic Sunflower Seeds, 650g”, was sold exclusively with the batch number 23007616/1 and the best-before date of 03.2025 from the manufacturer Estyria Naturprodukte GmbH at ALDI Nord (in the companies Rinteln, Lingen, Hann. Münden and Großbeeren), as well as sold at ALDI SÜD (in the federal states of Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg, Saarland, as well as in parts of Rhineland-Palatinate, Hesse and Thuringia).
The affected product has been removed from sale. Goods that have already been purchased can be returned to all ALDI Nord/ALDI SÜD branches. The purchase price will be refunded, even without presentation of the receipt. (ad)
