Dry shampoos are a real godsend for many people. Especially if we are in a hurry and our hair is… not as fresh as it used to be. Just spray it on your strands to make them look fresh and healthy. It turns out, however, that there is quite a big “but”.

Dry shampoo. It was supposed to help, but it may have side effects

The main task of dry shampoo is to degrease the hair and scalp. Its composition includes powders that absorb excess sebum. Typically, these shampoos are based on natural substances that do not require the use of water, such as clays and starches.

If we use dry shampoo in the right way, we can guarantee the effect of beautiful, fresh and thick hair. Dry shampoos are usually chosen when we do not have time, willingness or strength to wash, style and dry our strands normally. Finally, shaking the can and spraying your hair to get rid of greasy hair is much simpler and faster than classic washing and styling.

However, anyone who has ever used dry shampoo knows that it is not a cosmetic without its disadvantages. Improper application may result in the appearance of white spots on the hair and scalp. This is usually caused by too much product or not maintaining the appropriate distance.

However, not everyone knows that using this product too often may have a whole host of unpleasant consequences. Bad-looking strands will then only be the tip of the iceberg. What are the consequences of frequent use of dry shampoos?

Negative effects of using dry shampoo. Better be careful

More and more often we hear about the negative effects of using dry shampoos. Specialists list the possible consequences. The first and most important point is that using these products too often can lead to dry scalp. However, the most serious undesirable effect will be hair damage, matting and lack of shine. Moreover, after dry shampoo, our hair may start to fall out.

Why is this happening? Well, dry shampoo is a shampoo in name only. It doesn't actually wash the hair, but only “hides” the effects of oily strands. Regular use of dry shampoo may overload the hair and thus lead to hair loss.

However, this is not the end of the negative side effects of using dry shampoo. These include:

  • the appearance of dandruff
  • scalp irritation
  • inhibition of hair growth
  • baldness
  • itchy rash
  • matting of the hair.

Dry shampoo can be used every 2-3 days, but after using it, you should wash your hair normally and thoroughly the next day. Daily use of the spray is not recommended. This product contains starch, which binds to sebum and has a degreasing effect on the hair. Unfortunately, it also binds with water, which causes them to dry out.
