You should definitely not throw away this part of the yogurt! Discover the advice of an English doctor

Yogurts are part of our daily diet. But we often make a small mistake when tasting it. Do you know which one?

Whether plain, Greek, or even fruity, yogurts are generally appreciated at the end of a meal, or for a healthy snack. With their calcium intake, they are also recommended as part of a balanced diet. But to take full advantage of it, there is a detail that should not be overlooked and yet, many of us overlook the best part of yogurt!

Don't do this before eating your first spoonful!

This mistake is that of emptying the liquid part which formed on the top of the yogurt, before its consumption. This liquid is normal: it results from manufacturing, when this creates a separation between the solid curdled part of the milk and another more liquid part.

In the refrigerator, the longer you wait, the more the phenomenon amplifies, which in no way alters the quality of the yogurt, as Dr Karan Rangarajan (or Dr Karan Raj on TikTok) rightly points out. “The longer you leave your yogurt alone, the more likely it is that liquid will build up again, rise to the surface and leave a watery film.”

However, this liquid is a mine of benefits for your body.

A concentrate of essential nutrients and probiotics

Indeed, as the English doctor details, this liquid called whey or even “whey”, is filled with essential nutrients, such as proteins and vitamins such as B12 essential to the functioning of the brain, calcium essential for mineralization bones and “even probiotics which are good bacteria for your digestion, continues the doctor.

To benefit from it, the whey should not be thrown down the sink, but drunk before eating your yogurt. Or mixed with this one, if that puts you off a bit. “Just stir it into the yogurt and enjoy.” advises Dr. Karan Raj.
