Inappropriate storage of cosmetics negatively affects their properties. Although we most often keep them in the bathroom, a trunk or on a dressing table, some of them require storage at a low temperature. So which preparations should we keep in the refrigerator? We have prepared a list.

Storing some cosmetics at low temperatures is an excellent solution. Some of them, in order not to lose their valuable properties and at the same time maintain high quality for a long time, require cooling. Low temperature and lack of sunlight improve performance and extend the shelf life.
List of cosmetics that are worth storing in the refrigerator
Eye cosmetics
It is worth keeping under-eye skin care products, such as cream, gel or serum, in the refrigerator. Cooled active ingredients have a better effect on the skin under the eyes. Low temperature soothes irritated skin, reduces swelling and edema, which is especially important after a sleepless night or long hours of work at the computer. Cold makes the skin around the eyes tighter and refreshed.
Cosmetics with vitamin C and retinol
Both vitamin C and retinol, a derivative of vitamin A, are very sensitive to high temperatures, which is why cosmetics containing them are recommended to be stored in the refrigerator. However, we should remember that too low a temperature destroys vitamin C.
Organic cosmetics
Organic cosmetics do not contain dyes, preservatives or artificial fragrances. They do not contain parabens, synthetic petroleum fats or silicones. They are much less durable compared to the classic ones and are therefore best stored in the refrigerator.
Face mask
Facial masks, which consist of a cotton sheet soaked in gel ingredients, work best after cooling in the refrigerator. Low temperature protects the nutrients they contain, making them work better. Taken from the refrigerator, the mask placed on the face gives a pleasant feeling of cooling, reduces swelling and constricts blood vessels. Gel eye patches also love low temperatures.
Anti-wrinkle creams
The refrigerator is the perfect place to store anti-wrinkle creams containing peptides. Peptides influence the synthesis of elastin and collagen, accelerate repair processes and protect against free radicals. Gently cooled anti-wrinkle creams will help not only get rid of the first signs of aging, but also the fatigue that is so visible on the face.
Lipsticks
Low temperature has a positive effect on the consistency and durability of the lipstick. Lipstick stored at too high a temperature could melt.
These cosmetics should not be kept in the refrigerator
We already know cosmetics that like low temperatures. However, it is worth remembering that there are also some that do not like the “cold”. Always keep those containing oils, waxes or silicones out of the refrigerator.
Oils for hair, face or body should not be stored at low temperatures. We also do not refrigerate mascara, eyeliner, foundation or concealer. What about nail polish? Excessive cooling of the paint may cause an irreversible change in its structure. Nail polish stored in the refrigerator thickens faster.
