Weakened hair requires support both from the inside, i.e. a proper diet rich in, among others, zinc, selenium, silicon, iron and biotin, and from the outside. This is where the role of the oil begins, as it protects the hair against environmental factors.

Argan oil, how does it work and does it actually help?

First of all, it is worth remembering that the effect obtained depends on the condition of the hair. You cannot expect that very dry and neglected strands will look like from a shampoo ad after using one cosmetic.

Comprehensive care is necessary, which should also include the scalp. To do this, exfoliate once a week and apply a nourishing and moisturizing mask. Treatments performed in beauty salons and by professional hairdressers are also helpful. Cutting the ends, i.e. trimming, is also an important element of hair care, so before they break, it is better to cut them off and protect the new hairstyle against excessive drying.

However, on a daily basis, we recommend taking care of dry ends, especially if your hair already touches your shoulders. It is during this period that they are very vulnerable to damage because they constantly rub directly against the ground, which is the arms. Longer hair will also benefit from the use of argan oil.

Argan oil comes in two types, namely food grade and cosmetic grade. The second type is created by pressing previously unroasted seeds. It contains antioxidants, which is why there are also body cosmetics containing this ingredient on the market. In the case of hair, the presence of unsaturated fatty acids plays the most important role.

Thanks to them, we can protect our hair against damage caused by wind, sun or mechanical actions (frequent combing, using inappropriate tools, straightening, drying, etc.). Additionally, argan oil is worth rubbing into the scalp from time to time, preferably after the above-mentioned peeling. This practice will moisturize the skin, strengthen hair follicles and prevent dandruff.

Which oil to choose? Read the ingredients

As with any cosmetic, we encourage you to read the ingredients. There are plenty of products containing argan oil on the market. However, the best choice is the one with the shortest composition. Avoid cosmetics with alcohol as they may dry out the scalp and damaged strands. A good solution is to look for an oil without additives, ecological and defined as pure.

However, much depends on the purpose for which we want to use it. If we want to protect the ends, we can look for a cosmetic with thermal protection that contains oil and apply it before drying or straightening the hair. However, when taking care of the ends, we apply the oil just before going out, on the very ends, when the hairstyle is almost ready.

Another idea for using the oil is a homemade mask. Just add two egg yolks to a bowl, squeeze the juice of half a lemon and add a few drops of argan oil. Apply the mixture prepared in this way to cleansed hair and keep it (preferably under a shower cap) for about 30 minutes. Then rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water. Thanks to this, you will naturally provide the scalp with many valuable vitamins and minerals and ensure that the strands stop tangling.
